A shepadoodle is a cross between a German Shepherd and a Standard Poodle.  Shepadoodles are known for being extremely intelligent and loyal pets.  Due to the high intelligence that they inherit from both their poodle parent and their German Shepherd parent, they tend to be very easy to train.  (One happy family reported to us that their dog learned how to ring a bell when she wanted to go outside!)  German Shepherds have strong traits of of loyalty, strength, obedience, and protection, and they tend to pass these on to their shepadoodle puppies.

 

Our shepadoodles are F1s.  This means that they are 50% German Shepherd, and 50% standard poodle.  You might see other breeders with F1b shepadoodles.  An F1b shepadoodle is a shepadoodle mated with another poodle, meaning the puppy is 3/4 poodle and 1/4 German Shepherd.  We only do F1s at our kennel because we prefer our shepadoodles to have stronger German Shepherd traits.

 

  Feedback from our families is that shedding is minimal on our puppies. Shedding seems to be most noticeable after bathing and during grooming when it is found in the brush. Texture seems to be comparable to dust bunnies and not that of a German Shepherd.  That being said, if you are looking for a non-shedding puppy then you would need to look for a F1b or F2 where the poodle traits are stronger than that of the German Shepherd.

We socialize all of our puppies extensively with children and adults.  (Honestly, we just like playing with them!)  As a result, our puppies are good with both children and adults.  Our special needs daughter also loves playing with our puppies, and our puppies are always very gentle with her.
